ABOUT CANDY

Candy Baxter is a writer, the proud friend of a tuxedo cat, and the author of two cozy mystery series: Trouble in Tinseltown and the new Gumshoe in Training novels.

Educated in theater arts, Candy has spent a few years writing mystery novels for her friends to enjoy and giving her characters a flair for the dramatic. After much urging, she began publishing her books online.

Candy has a bachelor's degree from the university formerly named Humboldt State, in Arcata, California, where she specialized in costume design. She is the recipient of an honorable mention award in a scenic design competition at Ohio State University.

When Candy decided to set the first stories of the Trouble in Tinseltown series in 1957 Hollywood, a great deal of research followed. It's safe to say that the information provided by senior members of her family about the Los Angeles area was a good starting point. The original Disneyland park was built while these relatives lived nearby, and Candy has the black-and-white photos of the first rocket ship visible from their front yard. Also, the second book in the Tinseltown series mentions the once-popular SQR Department Store in Anaheim.

Candy lives and works out of her home in beautiful Northern California. Her cat friend, Moochie, is just as naughty as the tuxie and the tabby in the books. But that's just fine with her. Candy's husband is a retired cosmetologist.

Candy traveled extensively over the western United States, but her roots are in Ohio. And so, what better place to establish as the home state for Trouble in Tinseltown's main character? Candy was born in the small city of Bucyrus, and her sleuth, Gillian, was born there but grew up in the nearby city of Upper Sandusky.

After college, she put writing on the back burner, but didn't forget about it. Candy enjoyed quality control jobs and had the most fun in retail management. Now retired, Candy has the time to get back to writing challenging but cozy puzzles for her protagonists to solve.
